The Lethbridge Herald Newspaper fonds encapsulates two decades of community life in the City of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. The photographs capture everything from notable events to snapshots of culture to everyday life moments in the 1970s and 1980s.
«This advancement ensures that the rich visual heritage preserved within the Galt archive can be easily explored and enjoyed by individuals from all walks of life.»
Andrew Chernevych, Head Archivist

The city archive holds extensive photo collections such as the press photo archive of the daily newspaper "Der Bund" and the collection of Bund photographer Hansueli Trachsel (1951-2019). The collections of individual photos, the Bümpliz local archive and the municipal nursery, taken between 1860 and 2008 (approx. 8,000 images), have already been digitized.
«Historical photo collections are a major challenge. Digitization enables the long-term preservation of image content and makes it easier to find with the help of artificial intelligence.»
Roland Gerber, City Archivist of Bern
